What Other Cities and States Are Doing
While the United States has not joined with much of the rest of the world in agreeing to Greenhouse Gas reductions, states and businesses are leading the way. States are investing in renewable energy, setting goals for greenhouse gas reductions, and developing climate plans.

States are acting to protect their economies from damage caused by warming, to promote economic development, and to provide more stable and less expensive energy. Many US states produce more greenhouse gases than European countries, so state actions can have a real effect. Some states are working regionally to combine efforts.
